SEND Training

Assessment for the identification of SEND is a complex process, involving a tiered approach that is ‘graduated’ to meet the individual needs of a learner. Using an appropriate framework helps to ensure that decisions are being taken consistently, even though the outcome should be a personalised response for each student. Our framework offers some suggestions and guidance that colleagues may find helpful.

This mini-series provides an introduction to how you can begin using data to identify potential barriers to learning. It covers information on how to administer, score and interpret standardised tests, how to spot data flags in core assessments that suggest possible further screening needs, in addition to detailed explanations of some of the GL Education screeners:

  • York Assessment for Reading Comprehension (YARC)

  • Rapid, CoPs and LASS

  • Dyslexia Screener

  • Dyscalculia Screener

  • Emotional Literacy

  • LADS Plus

  • Exact

  • Recall

The information in these sessions should be considered alongside the test specific user manuals which are provided as part of your assessment purchase.
