About Rapid
What is Rapid?
Rapid Dyslexia Screening is an objective computer-based system for identification of dyslexia between the ages 4 to 15 years.
It is made up of three enjoyable and non-threatening tests that are sensitive cognitive indicators of dyslexia and cover:
- phonological processing
- auditory working memory
- either integration of visual memory skills (for students under 8 years) or phonic decoding skills (for students aged 8 and over)
The separate subtests take about five minutes each, meaning the whole assessment can be completed in 15-20 minutes. Results, which are based on national standardised norms, are available immediately.
The subtests administered vary with the age of the student but have been carefully selected and validated so that screening accuracy is maximised.
Why use Rapid?
The outcome of comprehensive research at the University of Hull. Widely used by schools in the UK and internationally.
It is swift and easy to administer, taking only 15-20 minutes. Results, based on national standardised norms, are available immediately. A simple, printable report of the results, which incorporates automatic expert interpretation, gives a clear indication of the probability of dyslexia.
