Alex

Do you know a child like Alex?

Alex is only 7 years old, but he is presenting challenging behaviour and struggling to progress in his learning. And, although you know Alex has the potential to achieve, identifying the underlying cause is proving difficult.

Behind the mask

Alex is a real student at Gabalfa Primary School in Cardiff (we have just changed his name). After taking PASS, our Pupil Attitudes to Self and School assessment, it turned out that he was even tougher on himself than his teachers were. He believed he was a failure.

Yet our Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) also revealed that Alex could be a high achiever. He was a little boy who felt he was a loser when all along he had the potential to win.

Daniel

Do you know a student like Daniel?

Daniel was a quiet student, well behaved, shy, seemingly set for GCSE success. Except he wasn’t: Daniel was heading toward a negative spiral – but the only person who knew that was Daniel.

Behind the mask

Daniel is a real student from Shevington High School in Wigan (we have just changed his name). Fortunately, he took PASS, our Pupil Attitudes to Self and School assessment, in Year 10. It showed that this shy, uncomplaining student was crippled with low self-esteem and had no belief in his own ability. But it also allowed his teachers to give him the support he needed in order to be confident and succeed.
