Information for parents
What is Recall?
Working memory plays an important role in supporting learning and those who have a poor working memory will likely experience difficulties particularly with reading, writing and maths. Recall is an assessment that is used to assess a students’ working memory skills including their word, pattern and counting recall.
How does Recall compare to an exam?
Recall will be taken in a quiet environment free of distractions. Supervision and support will be provided where necessary to explain how to take the test and to ensure an accurate measure of working memory skills. The test will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
Should my child revise or train for Recall? Can I get practice tests?
We advise against practicing or training in order to get a fair assessment of the students’ working memory skills at that moment in time. There are practice questions in the assessment to get students familiar with the tasks they are being asked to do.
Who should I contact withy questions about the test?
If you have any questions about the test, please contact your child’s school. Please note that only schools can buy the Recall assessment.
